I have an M1 MacBook. Can I run TIA Portal and PLC Sidecar, or do I need a Windows PC?

Does it run on a Mac with Apple silicon (M1 and newer)?
Yes, that is our own daily setup: M1 MacBook → Parallels → Windows 11 ARM → TIA Portal V17. The app itself runs on the Mac, TIA runs in the VM.
Keep in mind:
- Siemens does not officially support TIA on Windows for ARM. Editing, compiling, import and export work for us, but it is at your own risk.
- We have not verified PLCSIM on ARM yet. If you need it, plan for a regular x86 Windows PC.
- Give the VM enough memory (8 GB minimum, 12–16 GB is better) and keep projects on the VM's own disk, not on a folder shared from the Mac.
A detailed Apple silicon installation guide is in the works.
